REAL AI for Science is a research initiative at UC Santa Barbara. Our mission is to pioneer the new age of scientific discovery with AI-powered digital twins.

Instead of chasing massive datasets, we build principle-driven AI rooted in math, multimodal data, and generative methods. This is REAL AI—Reliable, Efficient, and ALigned AI: reliable because it is grounded in mathematical rigor and known scientific laws, efficient because it thrives in data-scarce scientific settings, and human-aligned because it is co-designed with scientists and experiments to ensure meaningful, trustworthy discoveries.
