REAL AI for Science is a research initiative at UC Santa Barbara. Our mission is to pioneer the new age of scientific discovery powered by Artificial Scientific Intelligence.

Instead of chasing massive datasets, we build principle-driven AI rooted in math, multimodal data, and generative methods. This is REAL AI—Reliable, Efficient, and ALigned AI: reliable because it is grounded in mathematical rigor and known scientific laws, efficient because it thrives in data-scarce scientific settings, and human-aligned because it is co-designed with scientists and experiments to ensure meaningful, trustworthy discoveries.

Our goal: create digital twins of complex systems—from the human brain to the universe—that transform how science is done, offering a platform where AI guides experiments, tests hypotheses, and accelerates discovery.
